Fallout 3, Bethesda’s open-world post-apocolyptic RPG, has recently had several strings pertaining to its Games for Windows Live functionality removed, according to the folks over at Neogaf. The service, however, was never a huge hit with PC gamers.
If you're unfamiliar with Microsoft's Games For Windows Live, it was first introduced in 2007 as a way to provide PC players with Xbox-oriented achievements and social features that were previously only available on the Xbox 360. Veteran Fallout 3 players on Steam will most likely rejoice at this news. Fallout 3's Steam page recently received a forum post from Bethesda, informing players that the game "no longer instals Games for Windows Live dependencies."Īdditionally, Bethesda recommends that anyone who already has Fallout 3 installed on Steam uninstall it and then reinstall it to take advantage of the new features.
